It always happens so fast. No less than two days after leaving Caz, I found myself 150 miles away and back at high school getting ready for another school year of football games, parades, concerts and music events. It happens so fast; it’s really difficult to get back into the swing of things when my thoughts are still at camp.
This was another memorable summer at Caz – the campers, the music, the staff, the events and concerts made every day of the seven week season one to remember. With over 600 campers, from our newest campers in Young Musicians session to our six- and seven-year veterans in High School, all came to make music the focus of their experience.
I want to thank all the Caz staff for a job well done this summer, but in particular I want to thank the Executive Staff who oversee the staff directly responsible for the well being of our campers; Dr. Jonathan Knight, Assistant Camp Director (Music Faculty and Instructors), our Deans Rachel Nachison and Eric Woodcock (Counselors/CIT’s), Head Chef Anita Mazzaferro (K Crew/Cooks) and Facility Manager Douglas Dreher (U Crew/Facilities).
While our summer staff scatters to their various schools and colleges all over the United States, two of our staff will be working and studying overseas- Taylor Weary, Counselor, will be working with orphans in South Africa, and Ari Rice, Kitchen Crew, will be studying in London. We wish them good luck and safe travels until they are back with us.
I look forward to seeing as many of you as can attend our two big fall events; our Con Moto for Cazadero Walkathon on Saturday, October 29th (read more about it here and at our walkathon page here), and the second event is our Annual Camper Reunion on Saturday, December 17, from 2 – 4pm, at the Northbrae Community Church in Berkeley. Many of our staff and Counselors attend, and we would love to see you to tell you all about our plans for Summer 2012!
Our website (www.cazadero.org) provides all the session dates for next summer. We post our brochures and our calendar on our website, so visit the site often. Remember to register for camp early as we were oversold for our Middle School A and High School sessions in 2011.
See you this fall!
